Rachel Unwin, BS, MA
Practice Manager

Rachel received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Bridgewater State College in 1996, graduating magna cum laude. While there, she completed an externship at the VA hospital in Brockton working with Spinal Cord injured patients and worked as an overnight supervisor at a local homeless shelter. Rachel graduated from the UMASS Dartmouth Clinical Behavioral Psychology program summa cum laude in 2001, completing an internship at Beth Israel Deaconness Medical Center Behavioral Neurology Department performing research, testing and statististical analysis within the department, as well as an internship counseling in the college counseling center. During her graduate studies, Rachel worked on campus in the Institutional Research Department, an awarded position. Rachel has worked for the Department of Youth Services, providing counseling for adolescent boys in a secure lock-up facility, and has worked as a therapist doing out-reach to adolescents and young adults in a portable setting. Rachel was also trained as a dental assistant during her younger years. In 2005 Rachel won the South Eastern Massachusetts Tweflth Annual Local Heroes Award for coordinating excellent dental care in that area. This award was nominated by the South Shore Community Action Council. In 2005, 2006 and 2007 Rachel was honored for her work in coordinating dental care for under-served children by the Cape Cod Community Action Council. Rachel works closely with all of our programs and with other programs as well, such as Watch Your Mouth, an educational and promotional program to teach children and families about oral health. In fact, through Rachel's efforts she brought the Massachusetts State Elks Lodge in as Supporters of this program, the first listed Community supporters of WYM.

Lauren Marvel, BA
Operations Manager

Lauren has a long management history, having risen up the ranks at Wheaton College from Secretary to Systems Coordinator and Systems Consultant, responsible for the college financial reports,fundraising surveys,as well as setting departmental goals and hiring and firing within the department. Lauren is a certified specialist in Excel and Word, and is certificated in IBM RPGIII Programming. She has an Associate's degree in Computer Programming from Massasoit Community College as well as a Bachelor's Degree in English from Bridgewater State College.
Anthony Cardone, DMD, CAGS
Dr. Cardone received his DMD in 2003 from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.  He continued his post-graduate studied, receiving a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Lutheran Medical Center in Boston, MA in 2004.  Dr. Cardone served his post-graduate residency at the DHMSC from2003-2004.  He has special needs experience, having done an externship at the Tufts Dental Clinic in Wrentham in 2002 and working as a Hygienist at the Tufts Faculty practice in 2005.  Dr.  Cardone has also completed a certificate program from the University of the PAcific Dental School for Hospital Dentistry.  He has been an associate in a few local private practices before joining CMOHS to work full-time.  Dr. Cardone travels throughout the state for us, including several times a month to Martha's Vineyard, twice a year to the Berkshires, and wherever else he is needed.  Dr. Cardone is a member of the Tufts University Dental Alumni Association, Boston College Alumni Association, American Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society and the Delta Sigma Dental Fraternity.  He joined CMOHS in 2007.
Dr Alex Roh, DMD
Dr. Roh was born and raised in Winston-Salem, NC and received a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Biological Sciences from North Carolina State University in 2003.He graduated cum laude from Boston University School of Dental Medicine (BUSDM) where he received his DMD in 2007, and in 2008 was awarded a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies (CAGS) for completion of an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program (AEGD) through the Lutheran Medical Center. Dr. Roh served at Geiger-Gibson Community Health Center during his senior pre-doctoral externship, and during his course of post-doctoral studies he worked at Dorchester House Multi-Service Center and also at the Taunton Oral Health Center. Dr. Roh joined CMOHS in 2008 where he balances his time working for children in need of dental care across Massachusetts, working at the Taunton Oral Health Center treating children and adults, and also working in private practice.
Dr Gregory Wu, DMD
Dr. Gregory Wu received his DMD in 2005 from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.  Dr. Wu was the President of the Delta Sigma Delta Fraternity and Class Vice President at Tufts SDM.  While at Tufts, Dr. Wu participated in the Student Advising Program, mentoring first year dental students, Tutored in Dental Annatomy from 2002-2005 and participated in an Honors elective Teaching Assistant Program specializing in Prosthodontic, Operative and Emergency Clinic from 2004-2005.  He also won the Dean's Award for Excellence in Student Teaching in 2005.  Dr. Wu has participated in Boston's Child Identification program, providing fingerprinting, videotaping and toothprinting to identify children in the event of a missing child report for several years as well.  Dr. Wu completed his post-doctoral training at the University of California at Los Angeles and received his Advanced Education in General Dentistry Westwood Program certificate (AEGD) in 2006.  He is currently a member of the Massachusetts Dental Association and the American Dental Association.  He recently joined CMOHS in 2007.
Dr. David L. Burke, DMD
Dr. Burke serves as the CMOHS Quality Assurance Director where he reviews dental charts for quality, and the high standards set by Mass Health, CMOHS, and the partners we work with.  He also currently works for Mass Health as a dental consultant in the Prior Authorization Unit, which requires extensive knowledge of policies, programs, and regulations within Mass health.  He is also a public health dentist precepting dental students, externs, and general dental residents.  In addition, Dr. Burke is a special consultant to the Chief Dental Officer at one of the largest and most productive community health centers in the state of Massachusetts.  Dr. Burke received his DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1968 and also served as a Captain in the United States Army Dental Corps where he was a Chief of Oral Surgery and Chief of Endodontics 1969-1971.   He has practiced as both a private practioner at private practices and as a consultant for claims review within a private insurance agaency. 
Dr. Ghassan Khoury, DMD, MPH
Dr. Khoury received his dental training at Boston University School of Dental Medicine (BUSDM) and was awarded his DMD in 1996.  He performed an Advanced Education Graduate Dentistry (AEGD) residency at BUSDM in 1997.  He also received his MAster's degree in Public Health (MPH) from BUSDM, completing his post-doctoral training with a Certificate in Advanced Graduate Trainingg (CAGS) in Geriatric Dentistry in 1999.  That same year, Dr. Khoury was awarded a faculty position at the BUSDM as an Assistant Clinical Professor in restorative dentistry, a position he still maintains.  Dr. Khoury began seeing patients as an associate of the Dorchester House Multi Service Center (DHMSC) in 1997 and joined CMOHS in 2001.  Dr Khoury balances his faculty position, a private practice of his own and traveling throughout the state for CMOHS working primarily on Martha's Vineyard and , in Department of Youth Service and Department of Social Service locations for us.

 

Dr. Mark E. Doherty(Jr.) DMD, CAGS
Dr. Doherty Jr. is a 2003 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.  He did his post-doctoral training at the BUSDM in Endodontics and received his specialty degree in Endondontics in 2005.  Dr. Doherty JR. has treated endodontic patients at the DHMSC since 2003 and has recently joined CMOHS on a part-time basis.  Dr. Doherty is currently in an associateship with Dr. Roger Lacoste, DMD, CAGS where they have practices in New Bedford, Swansea, and Raynham.  He also practices once a month at his cousin's practice, Atwill Conroy in North Attleboro and twice per month at Dr. John Hartley's office. Dr. Doherty is a member of the MAssachusetts Dental Society where he advocated for the fluoridation of the New Bedford Water Supply, the American Dental Association, and the Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity.  Dr. Doherty has two children, Mark and Taylor and lives with his wife Lori who also works as his Dental Assistant and as our Claims Specialist here at CMOHS!
 
   
Dr. Qui Q. Nguyen, DMD
Dr. Qui graduated from BUSDM in 2001.  He performed his senior externship at DHMSC with Dr. Doherty as his preceptor, and after receiving his DMD degree in 2001 he became an associate and full-time provider at the DHMSC.  In 2001 Dr. Qui joined CMOHS and has increased his involvement steadily since.  He presently provides Endodontics once a week to CMOHS patients in need.  In 2004 Dr. Qui was awarded the prestigious Ten in Ten Award from the MAssachusetts Dental Society (MDS) for his work with CMOHS and for his Oral Health contributions to children suffering from oral health disparities.  He has also twice been awarded the UMASS Medical School Long Forgiveness Program Award, once in 2003 for two years and again in 2006 for two years.  Dr. Qui is the holder of multiple black belts in several Martial Arts disciplines.  His specialty is weapons and he is regularly featured in advanced exhibitions throughout the martial arts world.

Dr. Cuong Do, DMD
Dr. Do was a 2004 graduate of the BUSDM.  He did his senior externship at the DHMSC and immediately following his graduation he joined CMOHS.  Dr. Do works closely with the Boston Schools Smart Smiles Program and often jointly with Dr. John Morgan and Kathy Dolan, RDH, MPH and the Tufts Special Needs Program.  His concentration is Boston public schools and the Head Start population.  In 2005 Dr. Do won the South Eastern MAssachusetts Twelth Annual Local Heroes Award for providing excellent dental care in that area.  This award was nominated by the South Shore Community Action Council.  In 2005, 2006 and 2007 Dr. Do was honored for his dental care of under-served children by the Cape Cod Community Action Council.  Dr. Do lives in Milton with his new bride and travels throughout the state to provide oral health care to multiple head starts and schools throughout the state.
Dr. Thahn Trang Nguyen, DMD, AEGD
Dr. Trang is a Dorchester native.  She was initially a patient of Dr. Doherty's at the DHMSC while in grammar school and asked if she could learn dental assisting.  She was enrolled in the DHMSC neighborhood DA training program for teens and soon expressed an interest in becoming a dentist.  She graduated from Regis College in Boston and was accepted at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine.  Dr. Trang graduated from Tufts SDM in 2001 and was awarded a fellowship from Lutheran Medical Center for an AEGD residency at the DHMSC.  Having completed her AEGD program, Dr. Trang then became a full-time provider at the DHMSC in 2002 where she quickly became one of the most popular preceptors for residents and externs as a clinical assistant in restorative dentistry at the BUSDM.  Dr. Trang joined CMOHS in 2004 and became the provider responsible for the Quinsigamond Community College Children's Clinic which was a joint venture among the Central MAss Oral Health Initiative, UMASS Medical Center, and CMOHS. 
Dr. Dario E. Gonzalez DDS, DMD, CAGS
Dr. Gonzalez received his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1999 from the Universidad Central de Venezuela in Caracas, Venezuela. He then came to Boston University School of Dental Medicine in 2000, where he completed his three (3) year residency in Periodontics as well as his Master's degree in Clinical Research, obtaining a Certificate of Graduate Studies (CAGS) in Periodontology and a Master of Science in Oral Biology (Msc).  Dr. Gonzalez has been working with the Boston Medical Center community health centers network, performing specialty surgical procedures including minor oral surgery and dental extractions, pre-prosthetic surgery, periodontal therapy and more.  In 2007, Dr. Gonzalez obtained his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) Degree from Boston University and late that year he became the Director of the Dental Department at Codman Square Community Health Center.  He is also an Assistant Clinical Professor at Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine where he supervises and educates dental students during their clinical procedures on patients.  Dr.  Gonzalez will be providing Periodontal, minor oral Surgery, and general dentistry procedures to CMOHS patients referred from our portable programs to the Taunton Oral Health Center.
