Rachel Unwin, BS, MA
Practice Manager
Rachel received her
Bachelor of Science in Psychology from
Bridgewater State College in 1996,
graduating magna cum laude. In 2001, she
received a Master’s degree in Clinical
Behavioral Psychology summa cum laude from
UMASS Dartmouth, completing
an internship at Beth
Israel Deaconess Medical Center. In 2005,
Rachel received the South Eastern
Massachusetts Twelfth Annual Local Heroes
Award for coordinating excellent dental care
in that area. She was nominated for this
award by the South Shore Community Action
Council. Also, in 2005, 2006 and 2007 Rachel
was honored for her work in coordinating
dental care for under-served children by the
Cape Cod Community Action Council. Rachel
works closely with all of our programs and
with other programs as well, such as Watch
Your Mouth, an educational and promotional
program to teach children and families about
oral health.
Lauren Marvel, BA
Operations Manager
Lauren received her Associate’s
degree in Computer Programming from Massasoit
Community College and her Bachelor's Degree in
English from Bridgewater State College in 2004.
Lauren is also a certified specialist in Excel and
Word. Before joining CMOHS in 2007, Lauren served as
the Development Information Systems Manager at
Wheaton College from 1979 to1994. She volunteered
for many years with the Girl Scout Council of
Southeastern Mass and currently volunteers as the
Secretary on the Executive Board for the Westport
Yacht Club. As part of the management team of CMOHS,
Lauren is a member of several regional and statewide
associations, including the Massachusetts Head Start
Consortium Group, Oral Health Excellence Committee
of Cape Cod, Better Oral Health for Massachusetts
Coalition, and the Oral Health Advocacy Taskforce.

Dr. Mark Doherty
Mark J.
Doherty, DMD, MPH, CCHP, is the owner of and Chief Dental
Officer for Commonwealth Mobile Oral Health Services. Dr.
Doherty launched CMOHS in the early-1980s to provide oral
health services for disadvantaged children and adolescents
who were unable to access dental care. Through the use of
high-quality portable oral health equipment, Dr. Doherty was
able to bring dental care to schools, state residential
programs and other sites where children were located,
removing barriers to care, restoring children with untreated
dental disease to optimum oral health and providing
preventive services to keep children healthy and
disease-free.
Dr. Mark Doherty serves as the Executive Director for
the DentaQuest Institute, and since the program’s
inception, has been the Director of the Safety Net
Solutions program, which provides technical assistance
and practice management consulting to safety net dental
programs. Safety Net Solutions has provided TA to over
100 Safety Net dental programs in the past three years.
For nearly 30 years, Dr. Doherty served as the Director
of Oral Health Services at Dorchester House
Multi-Service Center an FQHC in Boston, MA. In addition
to his role at the DentaQuest Institute, Dr. Doherty
currently serves as the Chief Dental Officer for the
Taunton Oral Health Center and for Commonwealth Mobile
Oral Health Services, which provides portable oral
health care to the underserved at sites throughout
Massachusetts. CMOHS has provided over three million
dental services to safety net children in Massachusetts
over the life of the program.
Dr. Doherty serves as the Chair of the Safety Net Dental
Clinic Manual Steering Committee, as a member of the
National Network for Oral Health Access Practice
Management Committee, a member of the Maternal and Child
Health Bureau National Advisory Committee for
School-based Dental Programs, and as a Massachusetts
representative of the National Governor’s Council on
Oral Health. He holds faculty appointments at Harvard
School of Dental Medicine, Boston University School of
Dentistry and Tufts University School of Dental
Medicine.
Throughout Dr. Doherty’s career in community oral
health, he has been recognized for his service and
professionalism. In 2010, he received a national award
in the “Best Practice Management Consultant” category
from Dr. Bicuspid. He has also received the Sanctae
Crucis Award from the College of Holy Cross and the
Kathleen Crampton Award from the Massachusetts League of
Community Health Centers. He was recently honored by the
Boston Business Journal as one of their 2011 “Champions
in Healthcare” for his tireless work on behalf of
victims of oral health disparities.
Dr. Doherty received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the
College of Holy Cross in Worcester, MA and a Doctor of
Dental Medicine from the University of Pennsylvania. He
completed a residency in general dental practice through
the Massachusetts Veterans Administration Hospital and
Harvard School of Dental Medicine and was awarded a
Master of Public Health from Madison University.

Dr. Mark E. Doherty(Jr.) DMD, CAGS
Dr. Doherty Jr. is the Associate Director of
Clinical Operations for CMOHS. He is a 2003 graduate
of the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Dental
Medicine. He did his post-doctoral training at the
Boston University School of Dental Medicine in
Endodontics (root canal therapy) and received his
specialty degree in Endodontics in 2005. Dr. Doherty
is also a partner in a large endodontic practice
serving southeast Massachusetts. In addition, Dr.
Doherty Jr. is a clinical instructor for the
Endodontic residents at the Boston University
Goldman School of Dental Medicine. He also practices
one day a week at the Taunton Oral Health Center,
once a month at his cousin's practice, Atwill-Conroy
in North Attleboro and twice per month at a private
office on Martha’s Vineyard. Dr. Doherty Jr. is a
member of the Massachusetts Dental Society (where he
advocated for the fluoridation of the New Bedford
Water Supply), the American Dental Association, the
Southeastern District Dental Society, the American
Association of Endodontists, the Massachusetts
Association of Endodontists and the Psi Omega Dental
Fraternity. In 2011, Dr. Doherty Jr. was elected
Vice Chair of the Southeastern District Dental
Society and was a recipient of the “Ten under 10”
award from the Massachusetts Dental Society for
making a significant contribution to the field of
dentistry. Dr. Doherty has three children and lives
with his wife Lori, who also works as his Dental
Assistant and as a Data Specialist here at CMOHS.

Dr. Anthony Cardone, DMD, CAGS
Dr. Cardone received his DMD in 2003 from Tufts University
School of Dental Medicine. He continued his post-graduate
studied, receiving a Certificate of Advanced Graduate
Studies from Lutheran Medical Center in Boston, MA in 2004.
Dr. Cardone served his post-graduate residency at the DHMSC
from2003-2004. He has special needs experience, having done
an externship at the Tufts Dental Clinic in Wrentham in 2002
and working as a Hygienist at the Tufts Faculty practice in
2005. Dr. Cardone has also completed a certificate program
from the University of the Pacific Dental School for
Hospital Dentistry. He has been an associate in a few local
private practices before joining CMOHS to work full-time.
Dr. Cardone travels throughout the state for us, including
several times a month to Martha's Vineyard, twice a year to
the Berkshires, and wherever else he is needed. Dr. Cardone
is a member of the Tufts University Dental Alumni
Association, Boston College Alumni Association, American
Dental Association, Massachusetts Dental Society and the
Delta Sigma Dental Fraternity. He joined CMOHS in 2007.

Dr.
David L. Burke, DMD
Dr. Burke serves as the CMOHS Quality Assurance Director
where he reviews dental charts for quality, and the high
standards set by Mass Health, CMOHS, and the partners we
work with. He also currently works for Mass Health as a
dental consultant in the Prior Authorization Unit, which
requires extensive knowledge of policies, programs, and
regulations within Mass health. He is also a public
health dentist precepting dental students, externs, and
general dental residents. In addition, Dr. Burke is a
special consultant to the Chief Dental Officer at one of
the largest and most productive community health centers
in the state of Massachusetts. Dr. Burke received his
DMD from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in
1968 and also served as a Captain in the United States
Army Dental Corps where he was a Chief of Oral Surgery
and Chief of Endodontics 1969-1971. He has practiced as
both a private practitioner at private practices and as
a consultant for claims review within a private
insurance agency.

Dr. Ghassan Khoury, DMD, MPH
Dr. Khoury received his dental training at Boston
University School of Dental Medicine (BUSDM) and was
awarded his DMD in 1996. He performed an Advanced
Education Graduate Dentistry (AEGD) residency at BUSDM
in 1997. He also received his MAster's degree in Public
Health (MPH) from BUSDM, completing his post-doctoral
training with a Certificate in Advanced Graduate
Training (CAGS) in Geriatric Dentistry in 1999. That
same year, Dr. Khoury was awarded a
faculty position at the BUSDM as an Assistant
Clinical Professor in restorative dentistry, a position
he still maintains. Dr. Khoury began seeing patients as
an associate of the Dorchester House Multi Service
Center (DHMSC) in 1997 and joined CMOHS in 2001. Dr
Khoury balances his faculty position, a private practice
of his own and traveling throughout the state for CMOHS
working primarily on
Martha's Vineyard and , in Department of Youth
Service and Department of Social Service locations for
us.

Dr. Qui Q. Nguyen, DMD
Dr. Qui graduated from BUSDM in 2001. He performed his
senior externship at DHMSC with Dr. Doherty as his
preceptor, and after receiving his DMD degree in 2001 he
became an associate and full-time provider at the DHMSC.
In 2001 Dr. Qui joined CMOHS and has increased his
involvement steadily since. He presently provides
Endodontics once a week to CMOHS patients in need. In
2004 Dr. Qui was awarded the prestigious Ten in Ten
Award from the Massachusetts Dental Society (MDS) for
his work with CMOHS and for his Oral Health
contributions to children suffering from oral health
disparities. He has also twice been awarded the UMASS
Medical School Long Forgiveness Program Award, once in
2003 for two years and again in 2006 for two years. Dr.
Qui is the holder of multiple black belts in several
Martial Arts disciplines. His specialty is weapons and
he is regularly featured in advanced exhibitions
throughout the martial arts world.

Dr. Thahn Trang Nguyen, DMD, AEGD.
Dental Director of Dorchester House Multi
Dr. Trang is a Dorchester native. She was initially a
patient of Dr. Doherty's at the DHMSC while in grammar
school and asked if she could learn dental assisting. She
was enrolled in the DHMSC neighborhood DA training program
for teens and soon expressed an interest in becoming a
dentist. She graduated from Regis College in Boston and was
accepted at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Dr.
Trang graduated from Tufts SDM in 2001 and was awarded a
fellowship from Lutheran Medical Center for an AEGD
residency at the DHMSC. Having completed her AEGD program,
Dr. Trang then became a full-time provider at the DHMSC in
2002 where she quickly became one of the most popular
preceptors for residents and externs as a clinical assistant
in restorative dentistry at the BUSDM. Dr. Trang joined
CMOHS in 2004 and became the provider responsible for the
Quinsigamond Community College Children's Clinic which was a
joint venture among the Central MAss Oral Health Initiative,
UMASS Medical Center, and CMOHS.

Dr. Cuong Do, DMD
Dr. Do was a 2004 graduate of the BUSDM. He did his
senior externship at the DHMSC and immediately following
his graduation he joined CMOHS. Dr. Do works closely
with the Boston Schools Smart Smiles Program and often
jointly with Dr. John Morgan and Kathy Dolan, RDH, MPH
and the Tufts Special Needs Program. His concentration
is Boston public schools and the Head Start population.
In 2005 Dr. Do won the South Eastern Massachusetts
Twelfth Annual Local Heroes Award for providing
excellent dental care in that area. This award was
nominated by the South Shore Community Action Council.
In 2005, 2006 and 2007 Dr. Do was honored for his dental
care of under-served children by the Cape Cod Community
Action Council. Dr. Do lives in Milton with his new
bride and travels throughout the state to provide oral
health care to multiple head starts and schools
throughout the state

Dr.
Rose Gallo
Dr. Gallo has been practicing dentistry for 25 years.
She has her BA from Clark University and her DMD from
University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine.
She resides in Beverly, MA. with her husband and two
daughters.
Dr.
Dinn, DMD
Dr. Dinn received his DMD in 2008 from Boston University
Goldman School of Dental Medicine. He did his externship
at Codman Square Health Center, Dorchester, MA where he
also volunteered to instruct residents of the Boston
area with HIV/AIDS on Oral Health and Hygiene. In 2009
Dr. Dinn started working for his brother Dr. Michael J.
Dinn at his Sandwich, MA office. Dr.Dinn joined CMOHS in
2009 working in the Taunton and Attleboro school
systems. He also works at the Taunton Oral Health Center
in Taunton, MA. Dr. Dinn is a member of the American
Dental Association.

Arian
N. DiNapoli, DMD
Dr. DiNapoli attended college at UC Davis in California and
subsequently attended Boston University School of Dental
Medicine where he received his Doctorate degree in Dental
Medicine with high honors (Magna Cum Laude).
During his dental education, he participated in an oral
surgery internship that made him a very capable clinician in
surgical extractions; he also spent numerous hours
performing root canal therapies which earned him the
Endodontics Award upon graduation.
Dr. DiNapoli enjoys all aspects of dentistry and constantly
strives to improve his clinical abilities through continuing
education courses and academic memberships. He was selected
as one of America's Top Dentist by Consumer's Research
Council in 2008 and 2009.
He also loves to treat children, as he finds them as the
most amazing patients a doctor could have; In fact, he has
treated several hundred underserved children in
Massachusetts on a pro bono basis.
Dr. DiNapoli is currently seeking additional training in
placement of Dental Implants and fabrication of Implant
Retained Dentures.

Dr.
Steven Nagy
Dr. Steven Nagy graduated from the Fairleigh Dickinson
College of Dental Medicine in 1981. After graduation, he was
appointed to a one year residency at St. Josephs Hospital and Medical Center in Paterson, NJ.
This was a general practice residency with a heavy emphasis
on oral surgery. After completion of this program, in July
1982 he joined the group practice of Gross, Greenwald, and
Petriella where he practiced general dentistry for three
years. He was appointed to the hospital staff as an
attending dentist which also involved instructing in the
residency program. Also during this time, he opened his own
private practice in New
Milford, NJ, and
remained there until 2007. After moving to Massachusetts he
was appointed as clinical instructor of operative dentistry
at the Boston University School of Dental Medicine. The
following year he was appointed Clinical Assistant
Professor, working with second year students in the student
learning center and with third and fourth year students in
the main clinic. Dr. Nagy joined CMOHS in 2009 by providing
dental services at the Martha’s
Vineyard Hospital Dental
Clinic and theTaunton Oral Health Center.
